· Confirm state registration and age of the company: http//corp.sos.state.ga.us/corp/soskb/csearch.asp · Call contractor’s insurance agent and request a certificate listing both Workers’ Comp and General Liability Insurance be sent to you with your name listed. § Workers’ Comp is required by law. It protects you and the worker from a claim. You can go on line to www.sbwc.georgia.gov or call (800)533-0682 to confirm that a company has a Workers’ Comp policy on file with the state. § Liability Insurance protects you and your home from a contractor’s negligence. · Request a copy of the business license required in order to do business in the state of Georgia
